The Good Nite Lite can assist children with better differentiating the concept of nighttime and daytime and reinforce the benefits of appropriate sleep patterns. The Good Nite Lite device itself is an innovative combination of a traditional night light and a built in timer that changes the visual display characteristics to reinforce a regular sleep pattern. 4Very pleased!  Mar 02, 2010 By Katie
My 2.5 year old was getting up around 5:15am every morning and it was getting really old. Heard about this night light and it has really worked! It took about a week for her to totally get it but now she does. I tell her every night before bed that she shouldn't come out of her room until the sun light turns on and for the first few mornings, she would come out early and I would walk her back to her bed and remind her not to come out until she saw the sun come on. She did it with very little fussing and now, even if she wakes up before it comes on, she waits in her room until it does. Many mornings, she'll say, "Sunlight on!!" and will give it a kiss before she leaves her room. She loves it. Only complaints - the timers are kind of a pain to set and it's a bit over-priced. Still have no regrets, though!

5Great Tool!  Nov 17, 2009 By Jessica L. Tyner "Gamer"
My husband didn't think it would work...but it is working! Our 2 1/2 year old was getting up at the crack of dawn - earlier each day and now he stays in bed until 8:00 a.m. It helped that he is really into looking at the moon so having a moon in his room is exciting to him. It took one or two mornings for him to figure it out with me saying you can get up when the sunshine turns on. Occasionally we have a morning where he'll wake up early. I'll remind him that he needs to stay in bed until the sunshine comes on and he'll lay back down and say OK without a fuss. I can't believe it works. As soon as the sunshine turns on he starts saying Sunshine! Sunshine! because he knows he can get out of bed.

Great product!

A note on the ratings: The Amazon rating system refers to this as a toy. I do not consider this a toy.

4Such a GREAT product!!!  Sep 28, 2009 By Jenny
We LOVE the Good Nite Lite!!! We got the night light for my 2.5 year old who was waking too early in the morning and fighting bedtime. He immediately understood the concept of going to bed when the moon turned on and eagerly anticipated it lighting up. In the morning he waited until the sun turned on to get out of bed. Within a week of adding 15 minutes to the wake up time, he was rising at a realistic hour with a huge smile on his face. The timer keeps its charge even when unplugged for over 12 hours when traveling. I'd love to give it 4.5 stars because changing the timer settings is confusing to me. It's not a big deal because the timer is not changed after you've reset your child's internal clock. But that first week or two can be a little annoying. Also, it doesn't have any way to set a timer for nap time which would be a nice feature on an improved version in the future. LOVE, LOVE, LOVE this product and highly recommend it!

5Holy smokes, it works!  Dec 16, 2010 By Benjamin Rothfeld
Let me preface this review by explaining that our daughter has beaten Drs. Weissbluth and Ferber. She simply does not go to sleep until she's good and ready. And then she wakes up ridiculously early. Like 4:30 AM early.

We've tried a lot of different things, but the GoodNite Light seems to be the only thing that's worked. We got it last night, programmed it, plugged it in and explained to our daughter that she goes to sleep when the light is blue and can't get out of bed until it's yellow.

Last night, the light turned blue and we happily put her in her crib. She went right to sleep, about 45 minutes ahead of schedule. Then, at 6 AM, when we set it to wake, we heard her get out of her crib and come into our room.

Incredible.

Now, the standard kid rule applies (50% of the things you buy for your kids won't work, but you don't know which 50% until you but them), but I heartily recommend.

1Not Safe for Toddlers/Young Children  Feb 13, 2011 By Nathan Bowen
I can't tell you anything about how this works, because once we saw the easily accessible lithium battery in the back, we decided to return the item. After reading a New York Times article about how dangerous the round lithium batteries are, I have tried to avoid them. Typically children's items have a screw on cover to keep kids from getting at the batteries. This night light has a cover that easily pops off, loosening the battery. The lithium batteries are not only a choking hazard (round, coin- sized) but are much more dangerous when swallowed than typical battery acid. They are also hard to detect on X-ray, because they look like a harmless quarter, instead of something that can open up and burn your child's insides! Not sure why an item that would be attractive to a toddler/young child would have this type of battery without a screw on cover! I did contact the company, and they indicated that they are working on developing one that has that feature. Until that happens, I would not order this item.
