I love Sprig, but made in China not Mexico! May 13, 2011
By queenkj I love this toy, but thought the toy was made in Mexico and not China. Apparently, they moved the manufacturing plant before eventually discontinuing the product. I own several other Sprig Toys and feel the quality of the ones made in Mexico or Canada is much better . . . they have a different feel than the ones made in China and smell MUCH more like wood . . . its like they changed the formulation for the "sprigwood".

Another GREAT Sprig product! Dec 16, 2009

This company is our new favorite! This toy (as are all Sprig toys) is well made and creative! I am so tired of Matchbox cars and Tonka trucks that it is refreshing to have cool tough vehicle toys that are more unusual. I love the dinosaurs, and the truck is awesome. My almost three year old loves it, and it is super durable. We will be buying these as gifts in the future.

Sprig moved to China Feb 01, 2012
By HappyLittleMommyAndTwoBoy We have several Sprig toys, and my boys love them. I went to purchase this item in a store and saw that they are now made in China, even the origianl toys we have, which were made in mexico, now say made in China. Beware, they seem to be of less qulaity and how enviromental is it to take our recyled material to China to have the toys made. Disappointed with Sprigs choice to move manufacturing to China.

FINALLY Nov 22, 2011
By mary ellen pleasant I have to say...i do not own this toy--yet. I am going to order it right away. I am still compelled to write a review. Why? Because FINALLY i see a toy that reflect my child. Finally cute toys that exhibit how diverse the world is and kicking eurocentric toys to the curb. I love the fact that Sprig toys have people in all colors. For so long, i have been combing amazon for cute firetrucks and buses with people to put in them. So far, all of the firefighters and conductors have been white. My son is not white. I want a toy that he can identify with and project himself onto. I finally concluded that if i was going purchase these products, i would to have paint the figures shades of brown to tan. Even Plan toys--all of the figures that are in "positions of power"--the fireman, the policeman, the pilot, etc. are all white men. There is one "asian" male looking figure ( i cant remember what he is) and one black figure: a woman nurse (the families however are cute and come in different colors).
So THANK YOU Sprig toys for being progressive thinkers...for not only being mindful of the environment but being mindful and contributing to a more progressive society.
I will report back on the actual toy and its quality and durability when i receive it.

great simple toy May 11, 2011

more toys in the world should be this simple and this fun. my two-year-old daughter loves it. she's got a running story going about rescuing dinosaurs and crashing the car in the sand that only she understands. we renamed the driver sophie jungle in our futile attempt to fight latent sexism in toys, but that's a whole issue for a longer review. a couple details that the toy designers missed: unlike the sprig seaplane and other toys, sophie doesn't "click" into her seat. she is just placed there. so she flys out during bumpy rides. the two-year-old in both of us becomes increasingly frustrated at this. also momma dino, doesn't fit in or on the car. another frustration for the two-year-old mind. regardless, it's a solid toy. it's sparked my child's imagination. and it's fun.
