5Better that the plastic letters...  Mar 24, 2008 By J. Hardin "Amazon shopper"
I like this set because you get numbers and letters for a reasonable price considering the quality which is quite good...I would definitely choose these sets over the cheap plastic ones because the backs are a complete magnet which makes them hold on without drifting down...The colors are satisfactory, except the blue on the numbers is more like a purple...You may want to refrain from giving these to a child who is still put things in their mouth because the paper fronts will dissolve and come off...

Color notes...
The letter coloring scheme is simply an alternation of red, yellow, blue, and green.
The numbers coloring scheme seems like green/yellow are odds & red/blue are evens:
0 = 2(red) 1(blue)
1 = 2(red) 3(blue) 3(green) 3(yellow)
2 = 2(red) 1(blue)
3 = 1(green) 1(yellow)
4 = 1(red) 1(blue)
5 = 1(green) 1(yellow)
6 = 1(red) 1(blue)
7 = 1(green) 1(yellow)
8 = 1(red) 1(blue)
9 = 1(green) 1(yellow)

5He loves the 1s  Jun 19, 2009 By rdh "Rita"
We purchased this for our 2-year old son. He is learning to read and loves to count so I wanted to surround him with letters and numbers. I love that the magnets are the "sheet" magnets instead of the small magnets that I worry about being a choking hazard. The fact that they were Melissa & Doug was a selling point too - we've always been happy with their products.

4Favorite alphabet magnets!  Oct 18, 2011 By AMT725
I love these magnets! My daughter loved playing with them at my sister's house so we decided to get her alphabet magnets. She's still in the stages of putting things in her mouth so I feared the plastic letters with small magnets, the magnet covers the entire backing of the letters so she's safe if they enter her mouth. I didn't give them 5 stars because as great as they are my daughter has gotten them in her mouth and the paint/color wore off within a minute of me trying to get it out of her mouth.

5Awesome Educational Magnets  Mar 24, 2010 By Christina Vanderberg "mistica2000"
The magnets have been great!! Our daughter loves them even though she is 13 months. I see her easily developing her number, letter, word, math and spelling skills with these magnets.

5Quality product  Dec 26, 2010 By Bone
These letters and numbers sets are both quality wooden products. It's nice that the magnet covers the entire surface of the letter or number, which helps them stick better. The only thing I didn't think of when I bought these was that I'd need more letters. You might want to pick up some vowels. It's hard to spell multiple words without them.
